GARDEN - a summer series
The garden. No nostalgia and no return, but only the place of longing of the world of tomorrow. Have we lost something? Do we feel that we are missing something? Amidst the addiction to distraction, we still talk about space and time to find meaning. If I had a piece of land, would I call it a garden? If I found meaning there, would I find truth there. Would it be quiet or productive, a place of stillness or work, wild or ordered? Would I feel connected? Through connection, meaning and beauty, we shape culture. The "garden" is a privilege. From a city garden as a symbol of connectedness, invigorating currents flow into an endangered human ecosystem, paving the way to the "garden city" - the way we've always wanted to live? …Inspired by words of Johannes Hartl (Eden Culture).
The garden is a smaller delineated unit that we can also create for ourselves, like an outdoor living room. Between the end of July and the end of September 2022, we produced a series of short outdoor performances in our "GARDEN" in the courtyard of HALLE 2 (SOZO).
From SOZO visions in motion DANCE Co. 2022, solo, duet and a trio were presented in our "GARDEN". The performance began at dusk and were preceded by refreshments and fellowship in our evening garden café.
This corner of our yard has always intrigued me. Thick with moss, weeds, rubbish thrown over the gate and an abandoned spirit. Underlying all that whispers poetry, history and potential. I imagine a cosy audience being sucked into fantasy filled scenes in a surreal space in the middle of the city with all the sounds of traffic, neighbors and passersby being the base note.
