THRESHOLD (Threshold) is a movement research carried out as a choreograhic project by Deborah Smith-Wicke. It formed a part of her training as a Quan Dao Kung Fu teacher. The 7 movement elements describe energetic planes and their relationship to each other and have their roots in the Shaolin Kung Fu and Tai Chi traditions. In our research we encountered the 7 elements as if learning a new language and began only practicing the slow speaking (moving) of individual words until we have been able to speak (move) fluent sentences and continue to a free, often risky and explosive handling in dialogue. On our journey, the kinetic energy resembles the transformation from solid to liquid to gas. The threshold is always between A and B or C and F or between liquid and gas and so on. The NOW impulse accompanies us in every moment of perception of which threshold we stand.
